DeNA Expands Global Reach with Subsidiary in South Korea
to Support Mobage Social Gaming Platform
TOKYO, JAPAN – June 27, 2011 – DeNA Co., Ltd. announced today that the company has begun operations of a new South Korean subsidiary. DeNA Seoul Co., Ltd. will partner with South Korea-based companies, including game developers and hardware manufacturers, to create and distribute content for Mobage, the social games platform operated by the DeNA group. The subsidiary, now in business, was officially formed June 13, 2011.
DeNA Seoul, funded by paid-in capital of 700 million South Korean Won (approximately 644,700 U.S. dollars), will be headed by president and CEO, Makato Haruta. Haruta’s charter will be to steer partnerships with Korean companies, including game developers, to bring content to the Mobage network in South Korea, Japan and the US.
The DeNA Group has been aggressively implementing its cross-device/cross-border growth strategy with the objective of making Mobage the world’s top social gaming platform. As part of the cross-border focus, the group has already established operations in China, the United States and the Netherlands.
